SALLY BULGER

DATE OF DEATH: JUNE 12, 2025

PAST STATE PRESIDENT 1991-1992

Sally M. Bulger, 87, of Cassadaga, passed away June 12, 2025 at home.

Born May 17, 1938 in Dunkirk, she is the daughter of the late Walter and Grace Goldhart Schultz. She was a 1956 graduate of Dunkirk High School.

Sally was employed with the Town of Sheridan from 1991-2017 as Deputy Town Clerk and Clerk Two.

She was a dedicated member of the Chautauqua County and New York State Home Bureau and served in various offices including State President. In recognition of Sally’s dedication to those around her and her desire to lend a helping hand, the Home Bureau Scholarship, which awards $10,000. to a deserving student, in early childhood education or theatre arts at SUNY Fredonia, was named in her honor. She was also a member and previously held office in the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Assn.

Wife of 60 years to the late Raymond Bulger who she married June 3, 1958 and who died June 13, 2018; mother of Allen of Oakley, CA and Jeffrey (Ginger) Bulger of Cassadaga; grandmother of Erin (Charles) Hagglof, Brandi DeJesus and Dr. Jeffrey L. (Diayan V. Rajamohan) Bulger, Jr.; great-grandmother of Jayden DeJesus; sister of Sue (Tom) Taylor of Sheridan. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Sally and Raymond will be held 10 am Tuesday July 1st at Cassadaga Cemetery, Maple Ave., Cassadaga, with a reception immediately following at The Stockton Hotel, 7293 S. Main St., Stockton.

BARBARA BUCHOLTZ

MARCH 6, 2025

Buffalo, NY, Barbara passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Frank L. Bucholtz; caring mother of David L. (Dana) Bucholtz, Edward D. Bucholtz,

Cindy L. (late Thomas) Williams and Candace L. (Thomas) Wilcox; also survived by her 10 grandchildren

and 7 great-grandchildren; loving daughter of the late Robert and Thelma (Snyder) Wolcott,

loving sister of the late David (Jaqueline) Wolcott, Cecil (late Shirley) Wolcott and the late

Robert (late Ellen) Wolcott; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Barbara served many years in the church choir and typing Sunday bulletins;

served as a Chair of several committees with the WNY Home Bureau;

was a skilled craftswoman and as a breast cancer survivor, she generously donated time and

In-Kind donations, as well attended the Survivor luncheon.

Joan C. Osypiewski, 93, of Oswego, passed peacefully on March 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in North Tonawanda, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Kolk) Brzeczkowski.

Joan worked as a secretary for Van Raaite in North Tonawanda.  She married the love of her life Frank J. Osypiewski in 1954, and they relocated to Oswego in 1969, where they raised their six kids. 

Known by many of her children’s friends as “Mom”, Joan not only loved all children, they equally loved her back.  She was heavily involved in St. Paul’s Academy, where her children attended.  She continued to be involved for many years afterward as a mentor.  She was also the primary caregiver for most of her grandchildren.  Beginning in 1971, Joan was involved with the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Marigold Chapter, serving as state president on two separate occasions.  Joan was very fond of birds and bird watching.  She was a talented artist and loved all sorts of yarn crafts, and she often made items for births, weddings, and to comfort others. 

Joan is survived by her husband of 69 years Frank Joseph Osypiewski, her daughters Kathryn Thomas, Deborah (Hugh) Brewer, Annette (Frank) O’Pray, and Theresa (Bill) Dowdle, and her son Mark Osypiewski.   Joan also leaves behind her brother Thomas (Mary Jane) Brzeczkowski, grandchildren Karolyn Thomas, Bryan Conzone, Sarah DiCarlo, Nicholas Rose, Brandon Osypiewski, Elizabeth Harvey, Chelsee Brockwell, and Patrick Harvey, and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Osypiewski and grandson Christopher DiCarlo, as well as siblings Hank Brzeczkowski and Jean Brzeczkowski. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, March 14th, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Minetto.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home. 

Donna F. Belling, 95, of Tonawanda, NY, passed away on October 6, 2023, at Niagara Hospice House.

Visitation will be held on October 12, from 3-7 PM at Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY. The funeral service will take place on October 13 at 10:00 AM at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 322 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY.

Donna attended Niagara Falls High School.

Spencer, Rosemary H. (nee Blersch) May 13, 2023 of West Seneca, NY; beloved wife of the late Donald R. Spencer.

Rosemary has been a long time Home Bureau sister. Her smile and humor will be missed by us all. RIP

Melva Jane (Kohler) McGranor, 80, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away during the afternoon hours of Saturday, April 1, 2023, while at her home, surrounded by her family. Melva had a kind heart and a caring way of living that will be missed dearly by her family and community.

Donna M. Tanner Aley, 58, lifelong resident of Sherburne, NY passed away peacefully December 22, 2020 at the Chestnut Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Oneonta, NY.
Donna was born on February 12, 1962 to Raymond and Ellen Conley Tanner. She was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School. On April 8, 2000, Donna married Edward B. Aley, Jr in Sherburne. She was a member of the Home Bureau of Norwich, NY and loved crafting and painting.
Surviving are her husband, Edward and her two loving cats; two sisters, Darleen Tanner Sturdevant and Linda Tanner French and husband Sherman. She had much love for all of her nieces and nephews: Connie McAvoy Murray (Patrick), Christine McAvoy Paul (Allen), Shane Trask (Teresa), Stacey Trask Golden, Todd French (Trish), Dennis French (Valerie), Deena French Wrieden (Rob); great-nieces and -nephews, Tyler Rundell (Courtney), Jessica Martin Theisen (Zach), Mark Martin (Jessica), Ashley Rundell (Max), Misty Golden, Megan Golden, Mark Golden, Brandon French (Kaylee), Kelsey French Nolan (Mike), Kristen French Brookins (Ben), Zachary French, Ashlee Beard (Robbie), Jessi French, Michael French, Samantha Trask, Victoria Trask, Shane Trask, Jr., Colton Wrieden and Noah Wrieden. Also surviving are Ed’s family, sisters, Bette Mayne of Sherburne and Patricia Homovich of Greenwood, SC; sister-in-law, Linda Aley of Sherburne; nieces and nephews, Richard Aley, Lenny Sue French (Matt), Michael Mayne (Kelly), Christina Marris, and Everett Homovich and several great-nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by her parents, a brother-in-law, Vernon Sturdevant, a nephew, Mark Trask, and Ed’s brother, David Aley, and brother-in-law, Leonard Mayne.

Irene Weirich was born on February 17, 1921 and passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2006.

Irene was a resident of Adams Basin, New York.

Igler, Betty S. ALBANY Betty (Smith) Igler, 88, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Albany, and a graduate of Albany High School, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Ella S. (Schaumann) Smith. Mrs. Igler retired as a sales representative for JCPenney in Latham. She later worked as a floral designer for area florists. She was also very active in the community as a member of the P.T.A., the Girl Scouts of America and with the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Inc. for more than 30 years, where she held various leadership positions. Locally, she was affiliated with the Schenectady County Frilly-Dilly's. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking and crafting. Beloved wife of 69 years of Walter K. Igler; mother of Kathryn (Anthony) Mantica of Colonie and Susan (Robert) Lachut of Glenville; sister of the late Henry "Tony" Smith and Maryjane Picard. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
